According to the Odisha Nurses & Midwives Council (ONMC), the official minimum eligibility requirements are:

• Age: Must be at least 17 years old on or before December 31 of the admission year. onmc.nic.in
• Education:
  • Passed 10+2 (or equivalent) with Physics, Chemistry, Biology (PCB) and English from a recognized board (like AISSCE/CBSE/ICSE/CHSE, etc.) with a minimum aggregate of 45%.
  • Vocational ANM from a CBSE-recognized school also qualifies with at least 40%. onmc.nic.in
• Medical Fitness: A medical fitness certificate is required. onmc.nic.in
• Additional Odisha-Specific Requirements:
  • Domicile: Must be a permanent resident or domicile of Odisha.
  • Language Requirement: Must have passed Odia at least at the M.E. (Middle English) standard — typically required for government colleges and up to 85% of seats in private institutions.
  • Category-based Relaxation:
    • General category: 45% aggregate in PCB.
    • SC/ST: Relaxed to 40% aggregate in PCB.
  • Gender: Both male and female candidates are eligible to apply.
